As part of an Oral Communication course, students are introduced to debating. The debate format is the Asian Parliamentary debating system where two teams of three students compete against each other. The debate consists of teams of three. For the motion, Prime Minister (PM), Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Government Whip (GW) and against the motion, Leader of the Opposition (LO), Deputy Leader of the Opposition (DLO) and Opposition Whip (OW). One more duty, that of the Reply Speaker (GR & OR) is required and that cannot be fulfilled by the Whips.

Objective of the Activity:

To give students the opportunity to practice debating to reinforce the procedures, language and rhetoric that has been learned in previous classes.
